Respawn only lets Titanfall cheaters play against each other

Cheaters in Titanfall are allowed to continue playing the game, but only against other cheaters. Respawn describes it as the “Wimbledon of the aimbot competitions” and states “hopefully you have the best aimbot out there, otherwise it could get frustrating for you. Good luck.”

Respawn is announcing the measures on the official Titanfall website. Starting Friday, March 21, people will be punished for cheating in Titanfall. Since the release of the game, the developer has been collecting data about the cheaters. Players who are caught can’t get around the conviction either by having their non-cheating friends invite them to a lobby: when that happens, all players in the party are treated as cheaters for as long as the session lasts. It is not known how long the punishment for cheaters will be. People who feel they have been unfairly banned can email Respawn.

The developer uses the FairFight system that is also used in Battlefield 4. That’s an anti-cheat engine that doesn’t inspect players’ PCs or constantly look for hacks, but instead puts actions next to some statistical markers to detect cheats. Although FairFight works according to the description with a system of warnings, restrictions and suspensions, that does not seem to be the case with Titanfall. There, cheaters are moved from one moment to the next to the ‘Wimbledon of the aimbot matches’.
