Stereo pairs and playback in multiple rooms
Apple today announced very happy that iOS 11.4 brings new updates for the HomePod. With AirPlay 2 you can now also set two of the pricey speakers as a stereo pair, so you logically get a wall-to-wall sound that, according to Apple, is even more spacious than a traditional speaker set. Since the HomePod is still not available in the many parts on the world, we will have to believe them on their word.
Multiple rooms in sync
With AirPlay 2 you can now also set up an audio system for several rooms. You can ask Siri to play music or podcasts in one or more rooms at the same time, keeping it synchronized so that you can move from room to room without running. You can also choose to play different music in different rooms, but that is only possible if you are an Apple Music subscriber.
You can also use Siri to play music if you use a speaker from Sonos, Bose, Bang & Olufsen, Bluesound, Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Libratone, Marantz, Marshall, Naim, and Pioneer.
From 18 June, the device is also for sale in Canada, France, and Germany, so at least we have more possibilities to buy the item abroad, as long as it is not available yet.
