Rumor: First Macs with M3 sockets coming in October

The first Mac computers with M3 sockets should be released in October, Bloomberg author Mark Gurman reports. The Mac Pro was recently released with M2 Ultra, the last Mac to switch to Apple’s own chips.

For example, this could be the iMac, MacBook Air 13″ and MacBook Pro 13″, Gurman reports. A new Air would soon follow the previous one, because the 15″ version of the Air was only recently released. The Air and 13″ version of the Pro were the first laptops to receive new generation SoCs. Apple would like to announce the new laptops in October, after releasing new models of the iPhone and Apple Watch in September.

Gurman also reports that Apple has renamed the division that developed the Vision Pro headset from Product Technology Group to Vision Products Group. This is unusual because Apple has separate hardware and software divisions that develop all hardware and software for all products. It is unknown why the company has chosen a different way of working for the Vision Pro. Gurman deduces that many more headsets will follow.
