The Chinese company Dasung plans to launch a 7.8″ tablet with an E Ink screen. The product should be called “Not eReader” but it is intended for reading e-books in addition to playing of video and functioning as a tablet.

Dasung previews video playback on the ‘Not eReader’ and has put an IndieGogo page online for future crowdfunding. The 7.8″ device’s E Ink screen has a pixel density of 300ppi, an undisclosed quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The tablet runs Android 6.0, although Dasung shows an image showing Windows 10.

According to the manufacturer, the ‘Not eReader’ has five uses. In addition to a tablet, e-reader and video player, the device must be usable as a monitor for smartphones and as a monitor for PCs. Dasung previously managed to get a 13.3″ monitor with E Ink screen financed through IndieGogo. The advantage of this, according to the company, was that there was no backlight, which would be better for the eyes of the user.

It is not yet known what price Dasung wants to ask for the device.
