WhatsApp is testing the function for generating stickers with prompts

WhatsApp has started testing a prompt sticker generation feature. So far, users can only paste stickers that they or other users have previously created into chats.

WhatsApp AI stickers

WhatsApp calls the feature ‘AI stickers’, reports WABetaInfo. The feature is available to a limited number of testers in version 2.23.17.8 for Android. More users should be able to try the feature later. The button to produce a sticker appears to be between the stickers and gifs tabs in the emoji menu.

It is unknown which backend WhatsApp uses: WABetaInfo only states that it is a service from Meta itself. Meta has many of its own services around generative AI. There are few details yet about how exactly the service works and whether, for example, it will be possible to refine the result based on a second prompt and whether it will be possible to choose from various options. However, there is a reporting function if the generated sticker contains offensive content. It has been clear for some time that Meta wants to add generative AI to all its services.
