Maybe you will soon be able to watch Netflix and Disney+ for free because of this trend

Streaming services are becoming increasingly expensive, and on the other hand, cheaper. The latter is mainly because more and more services offer subscriptions with advertisements. In practice, this means that you pay less, but that you do have to watch commercials before and during a series you watch. Now streaming services want to go a little further.

Free Netflix

It was previously reported that Disney+ plans to introduce a free subscription and now Netflix also seems to be toying with this idea. Disney would consider making part of its library of films and series available for free in order to compete with YouTube, which also attracts many millions of viewers every day, without anyone paying for it. At the same time, YouTube is notorious for its many long commercials, so in that respect there is indeed a transaction between viewer and broadcaster. It is still unknown exactly how Netflix plans to do this. Netflix indicates that it could be an interesting offer, especially in certain markets, but that it does not plan to launch something like this in the short term. If we know anything about streaming services, it is that they always imitate each other: we have seen this, among other things, with that advertising subscription, which is now an option with almost all streaming services. So one sheep in particular must cross the dam.

325 million

Disney also hasn’t given a timeline for when it might go for such a free subscription. Netflix could use another extra success, because it would have achieved more turnover: expectations were slightly higher than what it has now achieved. Netflix’s turnover rose to $12.56 billion in the second quarter, which is very nice: it is 13.4 percent more than a year earlier. Netflix did not reveal anything about the number of subscribers this time: it had risen to 325 million last year. With a free subscription, this could easily increase. Later today you can read here on DutchCowboys which series and films we recommend that have been newly released on streaming services this week.
