Xiaomi has presented its first smartphone with 24GB of RAM. This concerns the Chinese model Redmi K60 Ultra. The phone does not appear to be coming to Europe for the time being. Xiaomi does not release its Redmi K models outside China or under a different name.

It probably concerns the 24GB Lpddr5x modules from SK hynix, because they are in mass production. The module achieves speeds of up to 8533Mbit/s mentions Xiaomi on the product page. OnePlus will follow on Wednesday with the presentation of the Chinese Ace 2 Pro smartphone, which will also have a 24GB variant.

The Redmi K60 Ultra also has its own Xiaomi chips for energy management and charging. These are called Surge P1 and G1, according to the specs. The P1 helps with fast charging and the G1 with battery management. The exact role of the chips is further unclear, because there are no new functions in the field of battery or charging. The 5000mAh battery can be charged at 120W and is full within 19 minutes with the supplied charger.

The phone also has a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC and a 6.67″ OLED screen with 2712×1220 pixels, a resolution that Xiaomi refers to as ‘1.5K’ for an unknown reason. The screen is said to have a brightness of 2600 candelas per square. meters. The K60 Ultra is currently only available in China.
