The Photos app has all sorts of clever tricks hidden inside, but this one is very easy to overlook. That’s a shame, because with it, you fly through a whole year of memories in just a few seconds.

The Photos app is ideal for finding memories, but browsing through thousands of images can quickly take up a lot of time. Fortunately, with a smart swipe, you can go through an entire year in just a few seconds. This way, you not only see the featured photo of that year, but also get a lightning-fast overview of what happened month by month.

Open Photos

If you swipe through the grid in Photos to past times, you can switch to ‘Months’ and ‘Years’ at the bottom. Select ‘Years’ here.

One photo per year

Now you see one featured photo per year. But what else happened in that year? Swipe horizontally across the featured photo and an image for each month will appear. You will also feel a vibration for each month while swiping.
