WhatsApp introduces two privacy-oriented features in the chat service. For example, after the update, users can automatically ignore unknown callers and there is a guidance function that can point users to the various privacy features of WhatsApp.

The ‘Silence unknown callers’ function can be found in WhatsApp Settings under the Privacy options. The messaging service says automatically screen incoming calls to screen out possible scammers, spam and other unknown callers. Although the smartphone will not ring if such a caller is kept silent, the call will appear in the Call List, so that the user knows that a call has been made.

In addition, a banner with the ‘Privacy Control’ function can be seen in the same menu. Users can tap on this, after which WhatsApp explains various privacy functions and walks through it with the user. The service wants to alert users to any unknown privacy functionality. Both new features will be added to WhatsApp with one update as of the time of writing; Typically, users on Android and iOS receive the update within a few days.
