Voigtländer will release three ultra-wide-angle lenses with Sony E mounts in the spring of 2016. The 10mm f/5.6 is a completely new lens, the 12mm f/5.6 and 15mm f/4.5 were already available with the VM mount for rangefinder cameras from Leica and Voigtländer.

These are manual lenses, without autofocus. Voigtländer does provide the lenses with an electronic mount, so that information about the focus distance and aperture can be passed on to the camera. The 10mm, 12mm and 15mm will be named Hyper-Wide-Heliar, Ultra-Wide-Heliar and Super-Wide-Heliar respectively. They can be used on all Sony E-mount cameras; those are the full-frame cameras in the A7 series, devices such as the A6000 and the older NEX models.

The new 10mm f/5.6 lens is made up of 13 lens elements in 12 groups and has a minimum focus distance of 30cm. The Hyper-Wide-Heliar weighs 371 grams, is 73.8 mm long and has a maximum diameter of 67.8 mm.

Pricing information has not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer. The current versions of the 12mm f/5.6 and 15mm f/4.5 with VM mount cost around 800 and 600 euros. Voigtländer has not yet mentioned a release date, but says the new lenses will be on the market in spring 2016.
