TomTom is releasing three new standalone navigation systems in the Go Discover series. It concerns variants with a screen of 5″, 6″ and 7″ and prices from 230 to 300 euros. The hardware includes 5GHz WiFi for faster map updates.

According to TomTom, the Go Discover navigation systems have a new processor that leads to an ‘up to four times faster and better response’, but it is not known which chip the manufacturer uses. In its own words, it is the most powerful TomTom to date. The largest version with 7″ screen has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.

The navigation systems have a built-in battery, but do not last long. The largest variant works for just under two hours without food, the two smaller ones up to an hour. TomTom also supplies a car charger and Micro USB cable.

The navigation systems have a touchscreen and according to TomTom they are equipped with a powerful speaker. The TomTom world maps are ‘never older than a week’ and are refreshed via 5GHz WiFi. To view other information, such as speed camera warnings, information on fuel prices and availability of parking spaces and EV charging stations, users can connect their smartphone to the navigation system via Bluetooth. The Go Discover itself does not have a built-in SIM card and therefore no mobile data connection.

TomTom sells the Go Discover systems itself for 300, 260 and 230 euros. The two larger variants are also available through other retailers; TomTom only releases the 5″ version through its own web store.
