Sony shows first trailer for God of War Ragnarök

Sony and developer Santa Monica Studios show the first trailer for God of War Ragnarök and provide more details about the game. Kratos and his son Atreus play the lead again. The game takes place several years after the events of the previous installment.

In God of War Ragnarök, players can visit all nine worlds from Norse mythology, Santa Monica Studios writes on the PlayStation Blog. In 2018’s God of War, six of those worlds were included. The new game should be more diverse in terms of environments and also give players more choice in combat.

According to the makers, players can, for example, choose brute force or go tactical. The fights should feel familiar, but also innovative. The story picks up where the previous game left off.

Kratos and Atreus take on Freya and Thor, among other things, and the relationship between father and son again plays a major role. In the new game, that will be a lot about the choices that have to be made about ‘which path to walk’, according to the developer.

Sony is not giving any new details about the release date. Last year it was announced that the title has been delayed until 2022 and Sony also indicated that the game will be coming to both the PS4 and PS5. The images shown are from the PlayStation 5 version.
