LyX is an open source and cross platform system for formatting documents. In short, it is a graphical user interface for TeX and Latex. It is mainly used in academia, because it can easily compose formulas and shows an overview of the document structure. Unlike regular word processors that use the wysiwyg principle, LyX uses wysiwym. More information about LyX can be found on this page are being found. Version 2.0.7 was released on Friday and the announcement looks like this:

Public release of LyX version 2.0.7

We are pleased to announce the release of LyX 2.0.7. This is the seventh maintenance release in the 2.0.x series.

LyX 2.0.7 is the result of on-going efforts to make our stable version even more reliable and stable. We have fixed a number of bugs and made a number of improvements. These are detailed in the announcement.

The most important bug was #8854, which could lead to file corruption in certain cases and, more often, would lead to errors in generated files (eg, PDFs). We encourage all LyX users to upgrade to this version.

You can download the sources in tar.gz format (also tar.xz) and, if you would like to see what has changed, download a gzipped patch against the LyX 2.0.6 sources. (You can get it in .xz too). There are also some binaries available.
