Samsung will release the 5g version of its Galaxy S10 smartphone at the end of this week. The 5g variant has, among other things, a larger screen, larger battery and faster charging technology than the regular variants of the phone. The phone will not be released in the Benelux.

The 5g version, which Samsung presented in February together with the regular Galaxy S10s, will only be released this week in the home country of South Korea. Since the end of last year, a 5g network has been live there with which the smartphone works.

The device works on 28GHz and 39GHz frequencies for 5G, but also has antennas for regular 4G networks, according to the specs. The soc is the same as the regular S10, namely an Exynos 9820 soc or Snapdragon 855 from Qualcomm.

The S10 5G has a 6.7″ OLED screen, larger than the 6.4″ variant of the S10 4g. In addition, it has one more camera, namely an extra time-of-flight sensor on the back. In addition, there is a camera with an ultra-wide angle lens, a regular primary camera and a camera with a telephoto lens on the back.

The battery has a capacity of 4500mAh and can charge with 25W, which is more than the charging capacity of previous Galaxy S models. It is unknown if the 25W charging capability will come to other S10 models at a later date.

Samsung has not disclosed a suggested retail price of the S10 5G and providers in South Korea also seem to have not yet put it online. The price will be above that of the S10+, which has a suggested retail price of around 1000 euros. The device will not be released in the Benelux, because there are no 5G networks live here.
