Nokia is said to be working on a smartphone that, like the HTC One (M8), has two camera lenses on the back. Like HTC, Nokia would like to use the technology to enable blurring of the background of a photo afterwards.

Windows Phone fan site WPCentral reports the rumor in an article about possible updates to Windows Phone. The device should be released later this year. Nokia is already making an app, Refocus, that takes several photos in succession to enable after-focusing. The second camera lens would make it possible to blur the background of a photo without having to take more than one photo.

The idea of a second camera lens for advanced photo effects is not new; HTC uses the second camera lens in its new One (M8) to store depth information. Moreover, Toshiba previously presented a camera module with two lenses for this purpose.

According to WPCentral, there will be two minor updates to Windows Phone 8.1 before the next major release, tentatively codenamed Threshold. It is not yet clear what they will contain.
