Publisher Square Enix has announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released for PS4 in October. The game will have a special mission that works in conjunction with the PlayStation VR headset. There will also be an update that will add co-op.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was released in October 2015 for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Since January this year, the game is also available for Windows. Now that the exclusive period has ended, the game is also coming to Sony’s console. The game will be available from October 11.

The PS4 version of the game will have a special mission playable with the PlayStation VR headset. This will take place in first person, but images of it have not yet been released. The VR mission only works with the PS VR headset. Square Enix states in a forum post that this will at least be the case at release. This could suggest that the VR mission may also be playable on PC in the future with VR glasses.

Called Blood Ties, the mission sees Lara unravel a mystery in Croft Manor. Lara also encounters her worst nightmares here, in which she has to defend herself against zombie invasion. This game mode is called Lara’s Nightmare. The game also gets an update for the Endurance Mode that makes it possible to play online co-op. Two players can then make an attempt together to set the highest possible score.

Tomb Raider turns 20 in 2016 and the release for the PS4 will be called Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration. The bundle, which includes all of the game’s released DLC, will also be released on October 11 for Xbox One and PC.

Blood Ties is also coming as DLC to the PC and Xbox versions of the game. The DLC is included with the anniversary release and will be available to those who already own the game in conjunction with a season pass. Blood Ties is for sale separately for 9.99 dollars, presumably the euro price is the same.
