Possible specifications of individual Intel DG2 video cards for gamers appear

Possible specifications of Intel’s upcoming DG2 graphics cards with Xe-HPG architecture have surfaced. These GPUs are aimed at gamers in the enthusiast market segment and should be released in 2021.

The specifications come fromTwitter user OneRaichu, which is more likely to share information about Intel’s upcoming DG2 chips. The leaker shares the new information in an encrypted tweet, which is then passed on another Twitter user was deciphered.

According to the leaked specifications, Intel will come with six different DG2 models, which would be available with different memory capacities. The most high-end GPU would have 512 execution units and 4096 shading units. That video card would be available in variants with 8GB or 16GB GDDR6 memory on a 256bit memory bus. OneRaichu also lists models with 3072, 2048, 1536, 1024 and 768 cores.

In addition, more details about a DG2 384EU GPU have appeared. That would be a relatively small chip with a surface of 190mm². VideoCardz published an image of this chip, which comes with six memory chips and, according to the website, would compete with the Nvidia GA106 GPU from the GeForce RTX 3060 and the upcoming Navi 22 GPUs, which AMD will introduce on March 3.

Intel already gave some details about its DG2 GPUs during its Architecture Day in 2020. For example, then CEO Bob Swan announced that these upcoming chips will be produced at an external foundry. According to rumors, the chips would be made on a 6nm process by TSMC. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed. Further details are not yet known. For example, it is not clear whether the GPUs are intended for desktops, laptops, or both. Intel released a separate Xe Max GPU for laptops last year and later introduced a Xe GPU for desktops.
