Photos show unannounced high-end Sony phone

The GSM Arena site has managed to get hold of photos of a still unannounced Sony phone. The smartphone has been given type number F8331, where the F refers to the year, or 2016. The latter seems to mean that the phone will be on the market this year.

The phone has a slightly larger screen than the Sony Xperia X Performance, the F8131 that hit the market earlier this year. Outwardly, the unannounced high-end phone has little in common with the X Performance, which has rounded corners. The placement of the camera is very typical for Sony.

The screen is slightly larger than the X Performance, but still only full-HD resolution. However, both cameras have a UHD resolution. At the moment, only the Z3+ and Z5 series support 4k video, the Xperia X series does not yet.

On the side there seems to be a button with a built-in fingerprint scanner. The USB port is of the USB-C type. It would be the first Sony phone with USB-C, although the company recently announced two power banks with USB-C.

It is also striking that Sony has once again opted for NFC on the front, something that the Xperia X series also has. The back looks like brushed metal and the long sides are rounded. There are also two LED flashes on the back.

It is not known when or if the phone will be released on the market.
