Modders from the Nintendo Switch can run The Witcher 3 at 60fps at times. The game can be tweaked to play twice as many frames per second than is possible on the console by default. For this, players have to overclock the handheld.

That’s what YouTube gamer Modern Vintage Gamer discovered. He made a video showing how The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition can run at 60fps in some cases. By default, the Nintendo Switch The Witcher 3 runs at 30fps when connected to the dock. Incidentally, the game does not run at 60fps all the time, but only occasionally. Moreover, the resolution in that case remains at 540p. Modern Vintage Gamer made a video of what that looks like. In some cases, the game does not run smoothly.

According to the Switch’s modders, The Witcher 3 is a port of the PC version of the game. Players can also copy a particular patch file and access all PC options of the game version, including changing the frame rate. In addition, they can set effects such as better depth of field and sharpening of the graphics, and enable dynamic resolution. It is necessary to overclock the Switch for this.

Update: 60fps is only possible at 540p in this case, and not constant. That has been corrected in the article.
