Microsoft provides its Surface Hub 2 presentation screen with an interchangeable processor cartridge, allowing users to perform a simple hardware upgrade. The Hub 2 will appear in the second quarter of 2019.

The Hub 2-line will consist of the Hub 2S and the 2X and in the second quarter of next year the 2S will appear. According to Microsoft the slot for the cartridge is at the back of the Surface Hub 2. A cartridge that will be released in 2020 will upgrade the 2S system to 2X. After the upgrade, users can rotate the screen and log in with multiple accounts.

In addition, multiple screens can then be placed next to each other to form a large board. It is not known which processor is involved and other details about the cartridge are still missing.

Microsoft initially had a special version of Windows 10 in mind for 2S, but eventually remained with the original Surface Hub software. The 2X upgrade will contain Windows 10. The Surface Hub 2 is a 50.5 “screen with a 4k resolution and an aspect ratio of 3: 2. In May the presentation board was unveiled by Microsoft.
