Manufacturers come with 27″ G-Sync monitors with 1440p360Hz panel
Nvidia announces a new category of monitors aimed at e-athletes. These are 27″ screens with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and refresh rates up to 360Hz. AOC, ASUS, MSI and ViewSonic are coming with such monitors, according to Nvidia.
Until now, 1440p monitors go up to a refresh rate of 240Hz. There are already 360Hz screens, but they have a lower 1080p resolution. Nvidia announces in its CES presentation new 1440p models with the refresh rates of 300Hz and 360Hz. The screens get Nvidia’s G-Sync and Reflex Analyzer technology.
The 27″ monitors also get a mode that allows 1080p resolution to be displayed on a portion of the screen that corresponds to a 25″ monitor. According to the manufacturer, gamers can choose to play some games in 1080p. This may be desirable to achieve higher frame rates.
Nvidia also talks about the presence of a mini LED backlight in the 300 Hz models. That points to monitors in a high price range. The manufacturer says that such screens come from AOC, ASUS, MSI and ViewSonic. It is not yet known when they will appear on the market.
