Firmware update: Router Management 1.2 build 7742-2

Synology released version 1.2 of Router Management not too long ago and two minor updates with bug fixes have already been released. SRM is the firmware that runs on Synology’s routers and is in a sense similar to Disk Station Manager, the firmware for the same company’s NAS. These devices deliver excellent performance, have extensive options and are easy to operate via a clear web interface. Version 1.2 adds support for the MR2200ac, Synology’s first mesh router, among other things. The complete release notes can be found below.

  • Fixed an issue where the status of Network Center might not be displayed correctly when the wireless encryption mode is set at WPA2/WPA3-Personal.
  • Fixed an issue where RT1900ac might fail to establish a connection after upgrading to SRM 1.2 under client mode.
  • Fixed an issue where Synology Router might fail to access the Internet for a while if the connection type is Auto IP and an IP is acquired from the ISP.

Known Issues and Limitations

  • The IPv6 tunneling page will be removed from Network Center.
  • Safe Access, VPN Plus Server reports will be rotated when their storage volumes reach 200MB.
  • iOS clients might fail to connect to Synology Router when the wireless security encryption is set at WPA2/WAP3-Personal.
  • Customized policies of Parental Control of devices on SRM 1.1 cannot be migrated to Safe Access on SRM 1.2.
  • If the Synology Router is set at Wireless Client Mode, then the web filter and security protection of Safe Access might not work correctly.
  • SRM cannot back up and restore IPTV settings from RT2600ac or RT1900ac to MR2200ac.
  • There cannot be two mesh Wi-Fi systems in one subnet.
  • Wi-Fi points can only be added into Wi-Fi systems via Wi-Fi. If Ethernet backhaul is connected, please remove the cable before adding new Wi-Fi points.
  • Intrusion Prevention not be supported on SRM 1.2 and above.
