Facebook tests way to review read messages

Facebook is testing a view in which tabs show different types of feeds, including a feed of previously read posts. Twitter user Jane Wong has found clues to this in the code of the Android app.

Facebook is testing this display internally, so reports Jane Manchun Wong based on its findings and confirmed by a spokesperson to TechCrunch. The company says it is considering testing the new display externally, but it is unknown if and when that will happen.

Wong took a screenshot of the new view, which gives users the option to swap the Facebook algorithm-based category of most relevant posts for a tab of posts based on a reverse chronological order or a tab of posts the user has seen before. The latter can already be done on the desktop.

Alexandru Voica from Facebook confirms on Twitter that his company is running this test to make it easier to find posts that users have read before. He emphasizes that it is already possible to view the Facebook News Feed chronologically.
