Capcom has released a playable demo of Monster Hunter Rise for Nintendo Switch. It can be played until February 1. There are four quests to play in the demo. Due to its popularity, the Nintendo eShop has temporarily gone offline.

The Monster Hunter Rise demo is available to download for Switch until the morning of February 1, developer Capcom wrote. For this, users must have at least 1.6GB of free space. The demo can be played locally as well as in online multiplayer. The multiplayer can only be played until February 1, and users will not be able to transfer save data to the real game, the developer warns.

Players can play four quests in the Shrine Ruins. Of these, two are tutorials for beginners, and two are full monster hunts. All fourteen weapons from the game are immediately available. However, players can play the two hunts a maximum of thirty times, after which the demo no longer works. The demo also includes the new option to ride on monsters, a feature that appears for the first time in Rise.

The release of the demo seems to have temporarily prevented the Nintendo eShop on Thursday evening. The Japanese Twitter account confirms that there was a malfunction for several hours. While the timing matches the release of the popular Monster Hunter game, Nintendo itself doesn’t make that link.
