Be quiet is launching two new housings: the Dark Base 900 and Dark Base 900 Pro. The most noticeable difference between the two cases is the addition of a qi charging point on the top of the Pro case and the glass side panel.

As the company name implies, the focus is on silence in this third housing from be quiet. In addition, the Dark Base 900 series is also optimized for the installation of water cooling. The case itself is a midi-tower measuring 242.7mm x 585.5mm x 577.2mm and consists of metal, aluminum and tempered glass of 4mm thick. The housing can accommodate all common motherboard types, from e-atx and xl-atx to mini-itx.

Also, the motherboard tray is reversible, allowing a user to decide whether to place the motherboard on the left or right side. Another advantage of the removable motherboard tray is that it can be used as a test bench, allowing for quick part exchange. Nine hard disks can be placed one above the other, all in their own tray. Be quiet supplies seven trays. The tray system would benefit the airflow, according to Tom’s Hardware. In addition to a lot of space for HDDs, there is room for large CPU coolers, up to 185 mm high, and extra long VGA cards and power supplies. The maximum length for a power supply is 284mm.

The design accommodates many different fans. Be quiet has fitted all air inlets and outlets with a noise-reducing design. The manufacturer supplies three of its own 140mm Silent Wing 3 fans. The large dimensions and overall design of the casing should provide enough space for the radiator for water cooling.

Both models have a controllable fan controller, but the Pro version has four more pwm and three non-pwm connections for fans, where the regular version only has the last three. There is also a connection for an LED strip on the Pro, a SATA power connection, the aforementioned Qi charger and a glass side panel. The be quiet Dark Base 900 and Dark Base 900 Pro will be available at the end of June and cost 199 and 249 euros respectively.
