Password manager 1Password’s browser extension gains support for biometric authentication via Touch ID, Windows Hello, and a number of biometric systems for Linux. In addition, there will be a dark mode.

On its own blog, 1Password reports that support for Touch ID and Windows Hello was the most requested feature from users. They can now use biometric authentication when 1Password is locked. The desktop app must also be installed to use this feature.

Furthermore, a dark mode is now available for 1Password in the browser. This dark theme is present not only on password manager popups but also on suggestions on the various web pages.

The process has also been revamped to save a new username and password for the different accounts. In the new version, everything that is added per account is immediately visible and password suggestions will be made that match the requirements of the website.

The updates in the form of version 2.0 will automatically be available via an update for people who already use the password manager via the browser. This extension was previously called 1Password X.
