Xiaomi has unveiled its 12S series for the Chinese market. These are the 12S, the 12S Pro and the 12S Ultra. The three phones are equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 soc and the Ultra model has a 1 “camera sensor from Sony.

The 12S Ultra has a large ‘camera lens’ on the back, which hides a 50-megapixel camera sensor: the Sony IMX989. With that sensor, it is possible to take better photos in dark environments, Xiaomi claims. Other sensors include a telephoto sensor and a wide-angle sensor, both of which have a resolution of 48 megapixels. The 12S Ultra has a 6.73″ OLED and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, the phone has a battery of 4,860 mAh and can fast charge with a maximum of 67W. The phone would be the first Android device that is capable of recording in Dolby Vision HDR, according to Xiaomi.

The cheaper models, the 12S and the 12S Pro, are similar in appearance to the Xiaomi 12, which will be available in the Benelux from March. The OLED of the Pro is the same size as that of the Ultra. The screen of the 12S, on the other hand, is smaller, about 6.23″. The two phones have a Sony IMX707 as primary camera sensor, which has a resolution of 50 megapixels.

It is unknown when and whether the phones will be released in the Benelux. In the coming months, the 12S series will only be available in China. The price of the 12S Ultra starts at 5,999 yuan (about 859 euros), the 12S Pro is available from 4,699 yuan (673 euros) and the 12S costs at least 3,999 yuan (573 euros).
