Xiaomi announces Mi 6 with dual camera

Xiaomi has announced the Mi 6. The new high-end smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer has a Snapdragon 835 and 6GB of ram. The device is splash-proof and has two 12-megapixel cameras. There is no 3.5mm audio jack.

According to Xiaomi, the Mi 6 marks the debut of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in China. Like the predecessor Mi 5, the smartphone has a 5.15″ screen with 1080p resolution. The maximum brightness is 600cd/m². Xiaomi claims that the backlight can be set at 4096 levels for smooth transitions when adjusting the brightness. The device also has a blue light filter.

However, the housing is now characterized by the use of rounded glass on all sides, combined with stainless steel. The two 12-megapixel cameras are integrated into the housing without bulges and offer 2x optical zoom, while one of the cameras has four-axis image stabilization. The front camera is an eight megapixel variant. It is not the first smartphone in the Mi line with a dual camera system; the larger Mi 5s Plus already had this. The battery capacity is 3350mAh, with which the 5.15 “smartphone lasts about a day on average according to the manufacturer. There are also two speakers in the housing and there is a 2×2 network card for Wi-Fi available.

The fingerprint reader is incorporated under the glass and the smartphone is splash-proof. The Mi 6 does not contain a mini-jack connection for headphones. The Mi 6 will be available in blue and silver for 2499 yuan, converted and with VAT that is 407 euros. This is the version with 64GB of storage. The 128GB models will have a price of 2899 yuan, converted and with VAT 475 euros. In addition, there will be a luxury Ceramic edition, including a ceramic housing and eighteen-karat gold rings around the cameras. The price of this model is 2999 yuan, or 491 euros with VAT.
