Ubisoft has decided to suspend physical and digital sales of games and other content in Russia until further notice. The company writes this in a news item. The reason is the war in Ukraine. The company follows EA and Activision Blizzard with this.

Ubisoft is the next company in a long line of companies that decide not to do business in Russia for the time being due to the invasion of Ukraine. The company has announced in a news update that physical and digital sales will be suspended in Russia until further notice. Last week, both Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard said they would do the same.

Ubisoft wrote March 1 that the company has helped employees in Ukraine with emergency housing in neighboring countries and that all employees who normally work at Ubisoft’s offices in Kyiv and Odessa have been given extra money to cover unexpected costs. The company set aside one million euros for this. In addition, Ubisoft donated an undisclosed amount to the Ukrainian Red Cross, Save The Children and an emergency fund from the Ukrainian State Bank. The company has also set up a temporary communication line so that colleagues can stay in touch with each other. The company does not say whether the Moscow office will remain open.

Besides the game companies, there are plenty of other companies that have ceased sales in Russia to put pressure on the country. Samsung, for example, suspended the sale of products and services in the country on Friday, both consumer electronics and chips that the company makes. Shipments to Russia are actively blocked. Google has already stopped selling advertisements in Russia and Apple and Microsoft have stopped supplying Russia for a week. Last week we wrote a background story on the position of tech giants in the war over Ukraine.
