Thrustmaster announces two new racing wheel modifications

Thrustmaster releases two racing wheels that can be clicked onto its racing wheel feet. The Competition Wheel Add-On is an official replica of a Sparco wheel. The Open Wheel Add-On resembles the steering wheel of real racing cars. Both wheels can be pre-ordered next month.

The Sparco wheel is based on the Sparco P310, a racing wheel that people can buy for their car. Thrustmaster’s wheel, like Sparco’s, has suede handles. It is not an exact copy, because the racing wheel has nine buttons, two metal paddle shifters and an extra d-pad. This steering wheel was already for sale as the Thrustmaster TS-XW, but the consumer also gets the steering foot and the pedals with it. This is not the case with the Competition Wheel Add-On. This modification can therefore be connected to all Thrustmaster T-series base stations.

The Open Wheel-Add On is also sold as a separate wheel that can be connected to the base stations. This racing wheel is a self-designed product. The makers claim to have been inspired by real GT, LMP and LMS race cars. Thrustmaster calls it a compact handlebar with a diameter of 28 centimeters. The rim of this steering wheel is, according to the American company, the lightest steering rim Thrustmaster has ever made. This would allow users to feel better force feedback effects. This wheel is very similar to the previously released TS-PC Racer.

Thrustmaster posted a poll on Facebook a few days ago in which it asks visitors for their opinion about the steering wheels. Almost two thirds of the visitors chose the Sparco wheel over the Open Wheel. However, Thrustmaster is now announcing that it will release them both. The Open Wheel Add-On has a suggested retail price of 130 euros and will be in stores from April 18. The Sparco replica is slightly more expensive and has a suggested retail price of 200 euros. It will be on sale from July 20. Both wheels can be pre-ordered from April 4.
