The game comes to current and previous generation consoles on May 25. The game will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Nintendo Switch version will be available later this year. After a previous postponement, the game was actually supposed to be released on September 1 last year. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was originally announced in 2019 and was expected to be released in 2021. That was postponed until 2022. Last year the game was supposed to be released on September 1, after which it was postponed again for ‘a few months’. The developer then gave the reason that he wanted to offer the best possible experience that would honor the vision of JRR Tolkien. Now the release is scheduled for May 25.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum tells the story about the creature of the same name from the fantasy books. The game is a stealth game in which players must guide Gollum through Mordor and other well-known areas in Middle-Earth. Previous gameplay trailers showed familiar characters such as wizard Gandalf and elf king Thranduil appearing in the game. The game does not follow the complete story from the Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion and Hobbit books, but also adds new locations and storylines.
