Star Trek Online starships can be ordered as 3d printed scale models

Publisher Perfect World Entertainment gives players of the free-to-play mmorpg Star Trek Online the opportunity to have their personal, custom starships from the game recreate as a physical scale model using a 3D printer.

According to the publisher, 3D-printed versions of the starships are available for nearly all 500 ships from Star Trek Online. Gamers can upload their ships, including their own customizations, directly from the PC version of the game to the GamePrint website of the company Mixed Dimensions, which handles the 3D printing, the website reports, among others. Interested parties can choose to have their design printed, after which an artist from Mixed Dimensions can hand paint the design so that it gets the correct colors. In addition, it is also possible to opt for a model with one standard color and a design that the buyer can color himself afterwards.

About twenty of the most popular Star Trek starships are available in a standardized manner, with no personalization possible. The printed scale models, which can be ordered from March this year, are approximately 30 cm long. Prices have not yet been announced.
