Spotify reinvents radio with Anchor

It has been 101 years since the first Dutch radio program was broadcast. The medium invented by the Italian Marconi now appears to be reinvented by the Swedish streaming giant Spotify.

The streaming service makes it possible for podcasters to easily play music between conversations via the Anchor app.

When you start a new broadcast in the Anchor app, choose the ‘Music’ option and you have access to the entire music database.

How does the Anchor app work?

If you have a Spotify Premium subscription, you can keep the entire songs. Spotify users without a subscription will only hear the first 30 seconds of the song.

For the real radio maker, the options are somewhat minimal. For example, you cannot adjust the audio levels separately, so you have little influence on the end result.

Spotify wants to be a podcast platform

Anchor was taken over for hundreds of millions last year by Spotify and another podcast party. For years put Spotify firmly in the podcast market .

In Europe, this option is currently only available in Great Britain. It is not yet known when this option to play your own radio will also be available in the Netherlands.
