The Spanish manufacturer BQ has presented a 3d printer that runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon soc and is equipped with Android. Google’s mobile operating system is supposed to make the printer interface easier and faster.

In addition, BQ hopes that users can more easily send print jobs from their smartphones. With built-in Wi-Fi support, the 3D printer should also offer better connectivity than previous models from the manufacturer.

A user can be ready for the first print within fifteen minutes, claims BQ. That would take several hours with other models. The Witbox Go runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, a now somewhat older smartphone SOC with four Cortex A53 processor cores and an Adreno 306 GPU. The specs state 4 or 8GB of internal storage, while there is support for Wi-Fi over 802.11b/g/n. In addition, there is a micro USB port on the device.

The five kilo device measures 48x30x25cm and can print objects of 14x14x14cm. BQ will release the printer this summer, for a price of 599 euros.
