An inspection report from the American agency FCC shows the first images of what may be a new 360-degree camera from Samsung. Instead of the spherical Gear 360, the new camera seems to have a handle.

With the handle, the new camera would be better suited to take 360-degree images from the hand. The current Gear 360 has no place to grip the device due to the spherical shape. Two buttons are visible in the handle, but it is not yet clear what they do.

What is also striking is that the type number differs from that of the Gear 360. It has SM-C200 as a serial number, while this device has SM-R310 as a type number. That is the closest to vr glasses Gear VR, which goes through life as SM-R322. In the test report, the manufacturer does refer to the device as ‘Gear 360’.

Samsung will hold an event in two weeks, where it will most likely present the Galaxy S8. It is the next logical moment for the manufacturer to show a new 360-degree camera.
