The source codes of dozens of old Nintendo games have appeared on message board 4chan. Internal documents of the game maker have also been published. This would show that Nintendo was thinking about a Pokémon-mmo for the PC with the Game Boy Advance as controller.

The documents leaked onto 4chan’s / v / board. Leaked information includes development repos for the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color, which could be used to create emulators and improve existing ones.

Source codes for several classic Nintendo 64 and SNES games have also been leaked. ResetEra users have compiled a list of games for which the source code is known. These include Star Fox games, Yoshi’s Island, Mario Kart, Super Mario 64 and F-Zero.

The source codes for some games contain references to features Nintendo once worked on or considered for certain games. These include beta designs of Legendary Pokémon Giratina, Arceus, and Darkrai in Diamond & Pearl. There is also evidence that Nintendo was considering an online Pokémon game. In 2004, iQue is said to have made a proposal for a PC version where the Game Boy Advance could be used as a controller for an mmo game. The data would also show several connectors for, say, the Game Boy that were never released.

Exactly how much data has been captured and what is in the files is not yet entirely clear. Several online communities, such as on 4chan and ResetEra, are still studying the documents. Perhaps the now leaked documents are part of an earlier leak in which documents from, among others, the Wii were dumped.
