Sony has revealed the design of its upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset. The headset will have a white design. The PS VR2 also gets four integrated cameras and the headband resembles that of the original PS VR headset.

The design of the PS VR2 headset shows similarities with the PS5 console and according to Sony it is intended that way. The company writes that the PlayStation VR2 was inspired by the PS5 console and that each of the two devices was designed with the other in mind. For example, the PS VR2 has a similar white design with black accents. The VR headset does have rounded corners, in contrast to the PS5 with flatter sides. The corresponding controllers get a similar color scheme.

The new VR headset from Sony brings some new features. Thus, the distance of the lenses can be adjusted. The headset also gets a vent that allows airflow. Furthermore, the headset is less heavy than its predecessor, although Sony does not yet share a concrete weight. In addition, the headset does get a new vibration motor for haptic feedback. The controllers get adaptive triggers, just like the DualSense controller of the PS5.

Furthermore, Sony provides the PS VR2 with a single cable to connect the headset to the PS5. The previous PS VR headset had two cables that had to be connected to a separate box, which in turn was connected to the PS4. Sony writes that PS VR2 devkits are already in the hands of developers. A PS VR2 game has already been announced, in the form of Horizon Call of the Mountain from Guerrilla Games.

Sony has been publishing teasers of the PS VR2 for some time now. The company confirmed earlier this year that the headset will receive eye tracking and has a 4K OLED screen with HDR support and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The headset no longer requires a separate camera, as it supports inside-out tracking through four integrated cameras.

It is unknown when the PS VR2 headset will be released. Sony does not share any details about this yet. The price is also unknown. The original PS VR cost 399 euros at release. It is not known whether the new version will be more expensive because of the extra features.

Horizon Call of the Mountain is the first officially announced PS VR2 game.
