Software Update: WordPress 4.0 Beta 2

Spread the love

The second beta release of WordPress version 4.0 has been released. With this program, which is made available under a gpl license, it is possible to set up and maintain a weblog. WordPress is easy to set up and can be up and running in under five minutes if a server with PHP and MySQL is already available. There are possibilities to further extend the functionality of WordPress, in addition to blogging, and improve the appearance with plugins and themes to adjust. Version 4.0 includes the possibility to preview a URL and the contents of the media library can now also be shown in a grid view. The complete release notes can be found below.

For more of what’s new in version 4.0, check out the Beta 1 blog post. Some of the changes in Beta 2 include:

  • Further refinements for the plugin installation and media library experiences.
  • Updated TinyMCE, which now includes better identification for lists and the restoration of the color picker.
  • Cookies are now tied to a session internally, so if you have trouble logging in, #20276 may be the culprit.
  • Various bug fixes (there were nearly 170 changes since last week).

If you think you’ve found a bug, you can post to the Alpha/Beta area in the support forums. Or, if you’re comfortable writing a bug report, file one on the WordPress Trac. There, you can also find a list of known bugs and everything we’ve fixed.
