Spread the love

X-Ways Software Technology has released version 19.8 of WinHex. WinHex is not only a universal hex editor, but is also capable of low-level data processing through an easy interface. The program includes a ram editor, a data interpreter and a disk editor, and can be used, for example, to retrieve deleted information or to inspect files. WinHex works on all Windows versions from Windows XP and is available in different versionsof Prices from about forty euros to over a thousand euros for the most extensive version. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

v19.8 was released. Additional changes since Beta 6:

  • The processing state “Original” of QuickTime videos is brought to your attention in Details mode, if applicable. However, this statement is not as strong as for JPEG pictures. The contents may have been changed in some irregular ways without a way of detecting it (eg exchange of individual frames). The statement refers to the format structure. Conventional editing tools practically always alter this structure, so “normal” editing will be detected.
  • Extraction of Exif data from HEIC pictures.
  • Program help and user manual updated

SR-1:

  • Fixed erroneous presentation of certain compressed files in HFS+ as already viewed.

SR-2:

  • Fixed an exception error in v19.8 that could occur repeatedly during file header signature searches for JPEG files under certain conditions.
  • Fixed an exception error in v19.8 that could occur when processing video files.
  • Fixed an access violation error that could occur when processing certain EDB database files.
