Software Update: Wine 1.1.43

Wine’s usual biweekly development build was released on Friday. Wine is an open source implementation of the Windows API. This makes it possible to run DOS and Windows programs on Linux, FreeBSD and Mac OS X, among others. Wine is contributed by a large group of developers, which is why it was decided to release a new build every two weeks, instead of waiting for a number of new features to be ready. The database with applications running under Wine, with or without some minor tweaks, contains 14,122 titles at the time of writing, which is 46 more than at the time of version 1.1.42. Below you will find what has been changed and improved in this release:

  • A number of new icons.
  • Improved support for alpha channel in bitmaps.
  • Many Direct3D fixes and optimizations.
  • More complete msvcr80/90 implementations.
  • A wide range of 64-bit fixes.

  • Missing surface textures in Titan Quest game v.1.3
  • Warcraft III world editor page faults when switching desktops / after restoring from minimization
