Software update: Total Commander 9.00 release candidate 6

The sixth and probably last release candidate of Total Commander version 9.0 has been released. This program can be used as a replacement for Windows Explorer. Splitting the image in half makes it easy to copy files, but the program can do much more. There are various ways to modify files, there is a built-in ftp client and a multirename tool, and there is support for a large number of compression formats. Furthermore, the functionality with plugins be expanded. The program is small and does not need to be installed to use it, so it is easy to use it anywhere.

In version 9 we find, among other things, a few cosmetic changes. For example, system icons are now used instead of the internal ones and a new menu bar has been placed between the two file screens. In addition, a large number of small improvements have been made. According to Christian Ghisler, the release candidates are stable enough for everyday use, but there are still some minor creases that need to be ironed out. Furthermore, this version also contains an update check and newer dlls for extracting archives. The changelog for this release looks like this:

• New tcmdlzma.dll and tclzma64.dll version 16.4.0.0, compiled from official 7zip sources, used for lzma compressed ZIP files (32/64)

• Reduced maximum width for maximized lister window to 29900 pixel (64-bit)/16000 pixel (32-bit) in the hope to fix a (not reproduced) bug in “snap to top” function (32/64)
• Catch floating point exceptions also when loading Lister plugins, to fix crash in Imagine (32/64)
• Current tab color was sometimes saved incorrectly when closing TC (32/64)
• Crash in function cm_ShowFileUser when releasing a buffer. Note: Function requires that TC is run as administrator (32/64)
• Environment variables were not working in [buttonbar] DefaultLib entry (32/64)
• Properties of files inside a ZIP archive: Show method 95 as “LZMA(XZ)” instead of just 95 (32/64)
• Ctrl+N, https download was not working with new sChannel library when using a http proxy (32/64)
