Software Update: Total Commander 8.50 RC 3

The third release candidate of Total Commander version 8.50 has been released. This program can be used as a replacement for Windows Explorer. Splitting the image in half makes it easy to copy files, but the program can do much more. There are various ways to modify files, a built-in ftp client and a multirename tool, and there is support for a large number of compression formats. Furthermore, the functionality can be plugins be expanded. Since version 8.00 there are separate downloads for 32bit and 64bit environments.

New in version 8.50 is, among other things, that when copying, moving or deleting folders or files, all items that do not cause problems are handled first and that the user is only asked at the end for items that do cause problems. Furthermore, there is support for touch scenes and screens with a high resolution, and the search takes place in a separate process, so that the main screen remains available. No new possibilities are added in the release candidates, but the last folds are smoothed out.

Fixed:

• Search in Lister, text found, user presses F7 again -> do not use text selected by the search function as new search string, only when user selects text by himself (important when searching for hex or regular expressions) (32/64)
• Synchronize dirs, compare 2 RAR archives by content: Not working if file names had different case (32/64)
• Internal content plugin: Field “tc.dosname” was no longer working (32/64)
• Synchronize dirs: Hide rename box when user clicks on one of the direction buttons or singles/duplicates to show/hide files (32/64)
• Ignore clicks on button bar when TC was inactive, and reactivating it shows wait dialog (eg network drive not reachable) (32/64)
• Search function, use list file @c:pathfile.txt -> drive root like c: could be found as file not folder, if previously found item wasn’t a folder (32/64)
• Refresh current dir with Ctrl+R would re-read shared folder status, but would not always display it (32/64)
• Multi-line tooltips for files and button bar buttons with VERY long names were not wrapped to the current screen width (32/64)
• Unpack ZIP with invalid local headers (stored file with size set to -1) by using the size from the central directory (32/64)
• Reading of large virtual folders (eg photos on MTP device) can be very slow -> allow to turn off reading of file sizes+timestamps: wincmd.ini [Configuration] VirtualFolderDetails=0
