Software Update: Syncthing 0.12.4

Spread the love

Syncthing is an open source program that allows files to be synchronized between two computers. This happens just like with BitTorrent Sync without a central server in between, as is the case with storage services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and iCloud. The software is available for Windows, Linux, OS X and Android, among others. There are also packages for Synology and Qnap. Last month is version 0.12 and we are now at version 0.12.4.

In version 0.12, which is not compatible with version 0.11, among other things, the global discovery protocol has been rewritten and now uses https on the default port 443. Furthermore, there is support for socks5 proxy, folder ids can contain more and strange characters and updates are digitally signed. Since then, the following improvements have been made:

Changes in version 0.12.4

  • Warn the user if they’re running with an insecure looking setup (#2139)
  • Add remaining scanning time (#2484)
  • Handle sparse files (#245)

  • Audit logins with new LoginAttempt event (#2377)
  • More local discovery URL debugging (#2444)
  • Made upgrade system smarter (#2446)
  • Remove folder without restart (#2262)
  • Don’t dirty blockmap key between lookups (#2455)
