Software update: Sauce Reader 1.10 beta

Synop has released a new release of Sauce Reader. It concerns version 1.10 beta and it is available from here be brought down. The program is capable of tracking, categorizing, and retrieving your collection of RSS feeds. Sauce Reader uses Microsofts .NET Framework 1.1. The changelog of this release shows the following changes:

• Polished and improved the user experience (eg right click no longer selects the feed, column resizing).
• Fixed: Position in items panel is not preserved when new items arrive.

• Changed: Folder node is now selected if it is collapsed with selected children.
• Fixed: Ctrl-Click in feeds panel to remove active node from feed selection now updates items panel.
• Fixed: Right-Click for context menu in feeds panel selects the item (only left click should select).
• Fixed: Spell check in editor now ignores HTML codes.
• Fixed: Status icons were sometimes not loading for searches.

Known problems

• Performance: Major improvements have been made, but Sauce Reader is still slower than we’d like when a large number of items are being handled.
• Memory: The memory usage is reasonably constant, but is still much larger than we’d like.
• Item synchronization: A number of options exist under the tools menu in the editing window for publishing, posting and refreshing items. Currently these operations run a synchronize on the item before doing the action. In most cases this is safer, but may cause unexpected behavior if the item has been updated on the server but not changed on the client. In this case the server version will be synchronized down overwriting the local version.
