Software Update: Hitman Pro 1.6.5 (041101)
Mark Loman has created a program called Hitman Pro. This program is meant to be the ultimate spyware removal tool. It is a shell for a number of well-established programs that can stop or remove spyware, such as Ad-aware SE, Webroot SpySweeper, Spybot Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster, and McAfee Stinger. The installer comes with all freeware versions of the above programs and calls them separately and automatically. All in all, a very complete and simple way to get rid of spy, ad and malware. The changelog of the recently released version 1.6.5 (041101) looks like this:
What’s new
- Improved – Support for different installation path Ad-Aware (Hitman Pro caused problems if user installed Ad-Aware SE themselves on a different path earlier than Lavasoft suggests by default)
- Improved – Support for Ad-Aware SE Professional (spyware found was not automatically addressed by Hitman Pro)
- Improved – Only selected components will download any updates from the Internet
- New – Added option to run a full system scan with Ad-Aware instead of just system disk C:
- Changed – Hitman Pro Uninstaller renamed to Hitman Pro Undo (better name because it suggested it could remove Hitman Pro)
- Updated – Setup.exe (McAfee Stinger and Ad-Aware Definitions)
To do list
- Logging so that when Hitman Pro is ready, the spyware found is reported
- Scheduler so that Hitman Pro can run at regular intervals
- Option to shut down computer after cleaning
