Software Update: Pale Moon 3.6.11

Spread the love

Moonchild Productions has released version 3.6.11 of web browser Pale Moon. The Windows version of Mozilla Firefox is developed with the greatest possible compatibility in mind. Due in part to these concessions to older hardware, the browser isn’t as fast as it could be, according to Moonchild Productions.

Pale Moon is almost identical in functionality to Mozilla Firefox, but without support for older processors. Some things have also been omitted, including Accessibility features and Parental controls. The result is a browser that is up to 25 percent better performs. More information about the program can here are being found. The program uses its own profile folder and does not share it with Firefox. This makes it possible to use the two side by side. Since the previous entry in the Meuktracker, the following changes have been made:

3.6.11

Updated the source code to Gecko 1.9.2.11. This fixes a few stability and security issues.

Fixes:

  • “Manage search engines” -> “Get more…” link fixed

Changes:

  • Cosmetic: Changed a large number of occurrences of the “short name” into the more proper “full name”
Note that these changes are language pack specific, so will only be reflected in the US-English installation of Pale Moon.

3.6.9

Updated the source code to Firefox 3.6.9. This fixes a number of vulnerabilities and adds improved support for webmasters who want to use browser-side methods to prevent so-called “clickjacking”

Changes:

  • The internal update checker has been re-introduced this version. Automatic, periodic checking is still disabled since server-side support for automatic update notifications and patching is still incomplete at this point in time.
