Spread the love

Thursday the second release candidate of OpenTTD version 1.0.1 was released. In this open source clone of the Microprose game Transport Tycoon Deluxe, the goal is to build a transport empire by road, rail, water and air. OpenTTD can do more than just mimic the original game. For example, up to 64 times larger maps can be used than in the original, the AI is worthy of its name and there is support for multiplayer and IPv6. There are versions for Windows, Linux and Solaris and BSD variants available. The development of a version for Mac OS X is behind schedule because there are not enough developers available to be. This release only fixes a handful of minor bugs, a sign that the final isn’t long in coming:

Fixed:

  • Desync when joining the game because of using the wrong variable (r19687)
  • Truncated archives were not detected when using zlib 1.2.3. This also fixes zlib 1.2.4 compatibility, zlib 1.2.5 is bugfree (r19686)
  • Towns with 3×3 and 2×2 road layouts could not expand (r19683)
  • When joining a MP game all clients with company ID > 0 would be shown as if they were a spectator [FS#3775] (r19680)
  • Client status was shown incorrect in the console (r19678)
