Spread the love

The second update for version 4.4.0 of the KDE Software Compilation was released on Tuesday. This popular desktop environment used to be known as the K Desktop Environment, but the developers now believe that KDE Software Compilation covers the load better. The KDE SC is primarily developed for Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris, but there are versions for it too Windows and Mac OS X. It comes with a standard desktop, including fifteen packages of applications, including a personal information manager, multimedia and network management programs, and games. Below are the main improvements made in this release:

KDE SC 4.4.2 has a number of improvements:

  • Possible crashes in Plasma, Dolphin and Okular have been fixed
  • The Microblog applet now shows the correct time in the timeline
  • The audioplayer KRunner plugin has been fixed to not freeze the KRunner UI anymore

the changelog lists more, if not all improvements since KDE SC 4.4.1.
