Software update: Gaim 1.4.0

Anonymous: 41852 was the first to find the way to submit to inform us that Gaim 1.4.0 has just been released. The IM program Gaim provides support for networks including AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, Zephyr, SILC, and GroupWise. Although the program has made a leap in version number from 1.3.1. to 1.4.0, this release consists mainly of bug fixes and little or no new functionality has been added. The changelog shows the following changes:

Changes in version 1.4.0:

• Fix system log start times for some protocols
• SILC compiles with newer SILC toolkit versions
• Fixed a bug where buddy icon cache files were left in the icon cache directory after they were no longer in use.
• Attempt to detect the file type of a buddy icon when saving.
• Additional Yahoo! boot protection
• A few Yahoo! memory leaks plugged
• Fixed handling of the new Yahoo! profile page.
• Fixed localized Yahoo! room list. Please refer to the Yahoo! section of the Gaim FAQ for details.
• Enabled sending files to ICQ users using ICQ 5.02 and newer
