Spread the love

Version 1.6.5 of foobar2000 is in development and the first beta release has been released. This popular, lightweight music player supports MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, Flac, WAV and WMA, among others, and has support for Replay Gain. Furthermore, the player can convert different formats, the program has extensive options to adjust the tags and the interface can be completely customized. In addition, it is possible to change the functionality using plugins expand. The changelog for version 1.6.5 for now looks like this:

Changes in version 1.6.5:

  • Rewritten internal 7-zip support – now opens large files without running out of memory.
  • Updated ReplayGain scanner: improved speed, added classic ReplayGain scanning mode as an option.
  • Converter now warns about conversion of float32 to integer format, as it is not lossless if the source file isn’t peak-normalized.
  • “Remove Tags” now retains Apple gapless (iTunSMPB) information on MP3 files.
Rational: tag manipulation should not cause the file to decode differently.
Opt out of this behavior in Advancd Preferences.
  • Fixed some M4A chapter titles not reading correctly.
